Earlier this year OmniChannel Media, in collaboration with Hitachi Data Systems, hosted the fourth instalment of OmniChannel Media’s Executive Dialogue series entitled: ‘The Transformation of the CIO: Enterprise, Expertise and Industry Evolution’.
The event was attended by some of New Zealand’s leading technology executives from some of the countries largest organisations. A cross-industry initiative, the two-hour luncheon provides an opportunity for attendees to share some insights into how the role of the CIO is changing, as well as assess how customer and industry trends are reshaping its role within the business. The keynote speaker was John Brand, CIO Advisor from Forresters Research.
The moderator for the event was Andrew McGee, Chief Technology Officer for Hitachi Data Systems. Given the variety of industries represented the discussion was varied and robust, with CIO’s providing an insight into how their businesses are dealing with critical challenges surrounding: digital transformation, creating a digital ecosystem, as well as the role of the CIO in the customer experience and driving brand.
The discussion highlighted the challenges that all CIO’s face in an era when the speed of IT transformation has hit levels never before seen. It was determined that critical to tackling this challenge was the need for CIO’s to be responsive to innovation, as well as to understand the challenges that lie ahead for their businesses.
